Natural Park Sicike-cike: A Small Piece of The Ring of Fire

Natural Park (Taman Wisata Alam) Sicike-cike is one of the tropical rain forest in North Sumatra. It's a small part of Bukit Barisan Mountain and a small piece of The Ring of Fire. TWA Sicike-cike is a nature conservation area that used for tourism and outdoor recreation with an area of ​​575 Ha. Sicike-cike region set by the government as a natural park through Ministerial Decree No. 78/Kpts-II/1998 on February 7, 1989. TWA Sicike-cike resort managed by TWA Sicike-Cike Area I Conservation Section Conservation of Natural Resources North Sumatra I.

TWA Sicike-cike administratively located in the village of Pancur Nauli, District of Parbuluan, Dairi Regency, while geographically located at 02 ° 35 '- 02 ° 41' N latitude and 98 ° 20 '- 98 ° 30' East Longitude. TWA Sicike-cike is about 170km from Medan via road route. TWA Sicike-cike field topography are weight and some wavy corrugated medium and light, with altitude between 1500-2000 m above sea level. TWA Sicike-cike in North and South borders with the Adian Tinjoan Forest Preserve, western part border with District of Kerajaan and in the East next to Pancur Nauli.

TWA-cike Sicike have a permanent water source in the form of 3 (three) of the lake and 2 (two) streams and the rivers namely Lae Pandaroh and Lae Prada.

Some tourism activities to do in the TWA Sicike-cike include: cross country, camping and hunting photos. The facilities available at this time include a footpath and some cottage. TWA-cike Sicike TWA Sicike-cike have diverse fauna, among others: the various species of birds, namely: the White-crested Poksai (Garullax leocphus), Kutilang (Pycnothus aurigaster), Air Ducks (Anas supersiliosa), Murai Stone (Monticola solitarius), hornbills ( Aceros sp.), jungle fowl (Gallus-Gallus), Forest Cat (Felix bagalensis), Forest Goat (Capricornis sumatraensis), Boar (Sus victatus), gibbon (Hylobates moloch), Honey Bear (Heilartus malayanus), tiger (Pantera tigris sumatrana ), and deer (Cervus unicolor). 

Diversity of flora in the TWA Sicike-cike also very high, from a low level of plants to higher plants. Generally consist of both broad-leaved trees and needle-leaved, among others: sampinur rope (Dacridius junghunii) and sampinur flower (Podocarpus sp), hoting (Quercus sp.), Medang (Dehaasia oblanceel), Meang (Plaquim sp), samponus relationship (Dacrydium junghuhnii), frankincense (Styrax benzoin), kencing (Quercus sp), and haundolok (Eugenia sp.).

In addition, we can find many beautiful flowering plants that include different types of orchids, many species of herbs, rattan lianas, ferns, and Kantung Semar (Nepenthes sp.). There are about five species of the Kantung Semar encountered in TWA Sicike-cike like: tobaica Nepenthes, Nepenthes spectabilis, Nepenthes reinwardtiana, rigidifolia Nepenthes and Nepenthes rhombicaulis. There are also found 2 (two) species of Kantung Semar from crosses between the Nepenthes spectabilis Nepenthes reinwardtiana tobaica or Nepenthes.
